I have 4 more posts to write for the Ultimate Blog Challenge. Today is a tough one. I have no idea what to write and I am not in the mood. You think I’m a teenager with attitude. I feel plumb out of metal. I don’t even have a bit of rust to write about. So I went searching on how to write when I don’t feel like it. Here’s what I found:
- Find Your “Creative Nook” …
- Make It Your Job. …
- Take a deep breath. …
- Hang Out With Other Writers. …
- Sit With the Pain and Grief
- Have some sort of ritual or routine to get them into the writing mood.
- Write about it .
- Plan.
- Free write
- Pull out your laptop, notebook or whatever it is that you like writing on, and just start writing!
I do have a writing nook and am sitting with pain and grief. Sometimes I do write about it but not today. My problem is I never have a plan. I often just sit at the keyboard and tap away. Sometimes just gibberish but sometimes I write some good stuff. Today is not the day. Today I’m just getting by.
Day 28 – the Ultimate Blog Challenge.
Hi Lily,
It looks like you chose a few of these, #1, 3, 5, 7 and 10. That half of the suggestions. They probably didn’t say you had to do all of them.
Only a few more left and the last one is usually about how you did on the challenge or what was good of bad, or inspiring, etc… Pauls says if it was easy, it would not be called a challenge. 🙂
Did you do any painting today?
Thanks Doug. I did paint today. Now going to take a few days off.
You might not realize that even by just getting by, you give your readers much to think about. I too really struggle with writing and look for strategies like you listed and can’t seem to be consistent. To help me this year I’m trying to complete a writing course on udemy.
Good luck with your course.
