OF LETTUCE & THINGS

The day is broken. The sun is out. It took awhile but it is worth the wait. It is a balmy -9℃ outside and 0.7℃ in the greenhouse. It did reached a high of 4.5℃ about an hour ago. I can still dream of having lettuce growing soon. My seedlings are still alive and well. One must have dreams to get through the winter.

Now I have had my first ski of the season. It was in our local north and south parks. The tracks were not great. They were blown over and the snow not deep to set properly. We have to take what we can get. I got some exercise and fresh air. I’m hoping we will get more snow but I shall not hold my breath. It looks like a very short ski season this year but it’s good to be hopeful and optimistic. One could drown in tears.

So I’m having my cuppa with my feet up. My plantar fasciitis is going away. I have longer periods when my left heel doesn’t hurt. I have to be diligent doing my exercises. Pain is a great motivator. Healing is slow and takes its own sweet time.

  1. I wish you great success with your lettuce crop Lily. I have had plantar fasciitis and it can be excruciating. I went through one very painful deep tissue massage to deal with it and from that day forward, I was pain free. Something to think about. I hope you get more skiing in this season if you want. For me, spring can’t come soon enough. Enjoy!

  2. Lily, I love that you can so easily get out to ski. The one time I went cross-country skiing, we drove over 2 hours to get to the center, then they fitted us and drove us to the site; I was a natural and enjoyed that day blissfully. I am so glad your plantar fasciitis is clearing up and your lettuce crop is sprouting up!

  3. I live very near a park and we just had a perfect snow for cross country skiing. Made me want to invest in the gear. Might help with my balance!

Yes a deep reflexology treatment would help your feet! Anyone nearby who can do that?

  4. I’ve never seen a lettuce plant. I hope you keep posting its progress. Also, love that you are getting fresh air in this cold weather. I’ve been indoors mostly and starting to get cabin fever. But, I’m reading a lot which is nice too. 🙂
