AWESTRUCK

Day 2 of January and the Ultimate Blog Challenge is a cloudy one. There is no sun to spark me but I am remembering the sun of yesterday. I walked into the living room to find it lit in gold. I snapped a couple of pictures for I knew it would be gone in minutes. It’s hard to describe and photographs do not do it justice. But I was awestruck. There’s something magical about the winter sun on the wooden floor in late afternoon. I never get tired of seeing it. The magic never wanes.

I store these awestruck moments to sustain me and keep me on track. I find washing dishes magical, too, not in an awe striking way. Rather the magic is flowing, being carried away on a cloud. It’s a delightful physical sensation. I suppose you’re thinking I’m a bit nutty. I am. It is a wonderful feeling.

  1. Lily, I had always lived in flat-ish places before I spent a few weeks in the Colorado Rockies. That year, my host pointed out that “mountain glow” occurred certain times of the day, but only in certain weather: the mountains looked magically illumined, early in sunset. So I get what you’re saying. Thank you for sharing the magic.

  2. I love on wood floors! Mine are hardy and easy care lino planks that look like pine – yours remind me of the pretty fir at my old house!
My new cottage has wonderful skylights, so I enjoy moments of radiance even on cloudy days! I’m a fan of hand washing dishes as well – and have bird feeders just put the window.

  3. I have a bay window just like you. I wish I could turn it into a reading nook because that is where the sun comes through every day.

Also, I see magic in a clean and empty sink but not in doing the dishes. That’s just me. LOL! You do you!
